Since getting White Lady, the sloppy fitting of a remote gear shift had irritated me. A couple of manky pieces of ply were opted in to cover up a terrible fastening of the Morse D Series gear control.
Having re-varnished the cockpit, I decided to commission a Stainless Fabricator, appropriately called Mr Stainless, to make up a proper polished stainless mounting plate and bulkhead trim to finish the cockpit properly.
The initial ‘hole’ in the port side cockpit panel was tidied up and the mounting plate marked up on masking tape to prevent scratches.
While I was at it I greased up the shifter mechanism and assembled.
One of the few jobs that has gone relatively smoothly this year.
